It’s true good things do come in small packages. With one purchase you can get a sample of 8 artists work.
The Etsy Glass Artists (EGA) have put together a selection of sample sets for our summer promotion, a celebration of all things glass. Each collection will include 8 pieces. By one of 12 artists. The collections are composed of jewelry, gifts and designing components. Priced well below their value, it is a wonderful way to try out a variety of glass pieces. Shipping is included in the price of the EGA Collection and each participating artist has a different collection so be sure to check them all out.
The members participating are as follows:

Glass needs to be ground with a grinder and diamond grinder bits to make the edges nice and smooth. Problem is the grinder bits wear out and then you are left with something that is not good for the environment. For nearly 9 years now I have been using a diamond grinder and bits. My collection of used bits, is more than I like to say. I refuse to add them to land fill, Knowing things like glass and metal just never break down i just kept adding them to a box here in my studio. I have tried the recycled bits and I have to say not impressed or at least I have not found a good source.

So I posed the Challenge to one of my 12 yr olds(I have triplets so yes I have more than one 12 year old) We talked about how it would not be good to throw them away but most of all what can we do with them now and the possibilities. Grinder bits have a hole all the way through the middle plus they are heavy so they won’t break. Some how my son Sam envisioned something magical “Robots MOM” my son said! That is what we did. We used metal enamel paint, beads and wire. We wired the components all together and robot grinder bits were born and one less piece of non biodegradable junk became art.
Hand painted by Sam (12 yrs old) wired and beaded by MOM- He is so proud
and so am I .

Cabaret - February Inspiration Challenge Results

“Life is a Cabaret, old chum,
Only a Cabaret, old chum,
And I love a Cabaret!”
Willkommen to Etsy Glass Artists Monthly Inspirational Challenge! It was only a short time from conception to due date, but I think we have some really wonderful entries this month.
The challenge was the song “Cabaret” from the hit Broadway musical and the movie by the same title. The musical takes place in pre-WWII Berlin in a cabaret. There are no rules here. Just what does this song, musical, era, or subject, or theme inspire in you, and how? There are some very interesting entries, as each artist draws from their own experience with “Cabaret” aka life. So without further ado, I present to you the international glass talents of “Cabaret!”
Well that brings us to the end of our show. Please come back next month to see the results of the March challenge!

And you could win the heart of your choice…read on….
A few weeks back, with the “v” day fast approaching, I asked to see all the hearts EGA members were making. Wow, was I impressed! We are quite the bunch of talented glass artists, if I do say so myself (and I do!). After the usual rounds of patting each other on the back things started to get a bit competetive…ok, maybe it was just in my mind…most things are…heh heh…but since we’re all too polite to claim “best” heart we thought we needed to ask a highly discerning and often opinionated group, THE ETSY USER (well, to be completely truthful this really was all Dee’s idea, she just suckered, I MEAN ASKED, me to organize. And to make voting worth your while, oh lovely Etsonian, you could possibly win the heart of your choice. Truly I do not lie!!! Here’s the skinny-
-Take a look at all the hearts listed below.
-Find your most favoritest heart, the most heartbreakingly lovely creation you ever did see and go vote. Just remember the number of the heart you are voting for.
-Please only vote for ONE heart
-Only one vote per person, por favor
-When the voting is done we will pull 3 (THREE!!) names, and in the order picked they will be able to choose the heart of their choice.
-Voting ends FEBRUARY 10th, 11:59pm EST.
-Winners will be contacted by February 12th
What a deal.
Go HERE and send us a convo with your name and the number of the heart you are voting for. You must be a registered etsy user to vote. If you are not currently an etsy member you can register (for free) right HERE. If you win, you do not have to choose the heart you voted for.
Let’s meet the challengers, shall we?
